Review: Shoot 1UP!

This shoot'em-up by Mommy's Best Games was literally a blast in its original release on the Indie Games channel back on Xbox 360 and its Steam port is just as much fun. The game lets you control a phalanx of up to 30 ships at the same time because whenever you gain an extra life, it immediately joins your fleet on screen. Using the combined firepower by arranging the formation of the fleet is a lot of fun and a unique gameplay twist you won't find anywhere else.

MBG's unique visual style of hand-drawn graphics impresses just as much as in their action platformers Weapon Of Choice and Explosionade. The game's six levels consist of weird alien landscapes and odd machinery which can be finished in just one session, but they also offer branching paths to explore. A really nice feature is that players can adjust the game speed to their liking, upping the ante or making it a piece of cake.

Boobs.
If you ever wanted to fight a giant, robotic chick with her boobs relentlessly firing at you, Shoot 1UP is your weapon of choice! This game is a must buy for fans of colorful, insane action games and shmups in general, although it may be rather short and not as challenging or bullet-hellish as other games of this genre.
